The Milner AwardVOTE

The Milner Award encourages children

to read by empowering them to select their favorite authors and then bring them to Atlanta for the Milner Award Program each year. School children and their teachers and media specialists have the opportunity to come to the free program to meet the author in person and hear them speak. The winning author is chosen by votes gathered both in the elementary schools and in the Atlanta-Fulton Public Library System branches. more >

Congratulations to our 2017 Milner Award Winner – Lincoln Peirce

Lincoln Peirce is the author and illustrator of the BIG NATE comic and book series. BIG NATE appears daily in 250 newspapers and there are 25 BIG NATE books. Lincoln Peirce was born in Iowa but now lives in Portland, Maine with his wife and two children. He first started drawing cartoons in about the third grade when he discovered Charlie Brown and Snoopy. At Colby College he drew cartoons for the college newspaper. His character Big Nate is modeled after his younger brother and himself. Lincoln Peirce is friends with Jeff Kinney.
