Read2Vote empowers students to bring their imagination to life through critical thought. The Milner Award provides classrooms with two books for students to read and vote for in the Read2Vote campaign. This experience creates conversation within the classroom and fosters student decision making, culminating in a visit by the author they choose. The Milner Award brings reading to life.

Read 2 Books
Students receive two books written by two different authors. Students will read, reflect and discuss both books in the classroom.
Vote For Favorite Author
After comparing both books, students will submit their choice for their favorite author using our online voting tool.
Author Visit
The selected author visits the students, virtually or in person, to talk about their craft, their life experiences, and the creative process. Students get to ask questions and interact with the author.

Sharon M. Draper is a New York Times bestselling author and a recipient of the Margaret A. Edwards Award honoring her significant and lasting contribution to writing for teens. She has received the Coretta Scott King Award for both Copper Sun and Forged by Fire and was awarded the Charlotte Huck Award for Stella by Starlight. Her novel Out of My Mind has won multiple awards and was a New York Times bestseller for over three years. She taught high school English for twenty-five years and was named National Teacher of the Year. She now lives in Florida.
